Take Time to S.I.T. (Smart/Integrity/Technology)

by Kirk Hearin

Given the challenging economy and tenuous market conditions, the need to work hard and commit yourself is the obvious game plan. But don’t just work hard, work smart; and when it comes to your integrity, don’t be tempted to fudge a little here and there; don’t you dare! And if you’re an aging baby boomer like me, don’t be afraid of technology.

More than ever, now is the time to strive for excellence. Be or become the most dedicated, the most knowledgeable, the most personable, the most professional real estate agent you can be. You can gain years of knowledge and professionalism in a short time if you make and keep the commitment to do so. Know your buyers and be prepared to guide them in making one of their biggest lifetime decisions. Always be upfront and frank with your client; they’ll respect and appreciate you for doing so; and don’t just find them a house, but take the time to find them the right house. In doing so, you’ll be building long-term relationships that will prove beneficial. Do you value your clients and the license that allows you to do what you do? If so, and I know you do, always conduct yourself in a professional and ethical manner as if you were attempting to brand yourself as the ‘utmost person of integrity’ in the real estate world. Never allow yourself to be tempted otherwise. The world of technology is changing almost daily, and offers programs that will save you time, open communication opportunities with agents worldwide, and provides an endless array of aides allowing you to work smarter; all contributing toward your goal of being the most professional real estate agent you can be. Investigate the many opportunities and choose wisely; and when comparing the cost of purchase to that of ‘doing it yourself’, don’t forget to factor the value of your time.

So dear colleagues, let’s all take the time to S.I.T.
